Sheila Essey Award 2011

At their annual meeting on the 15th of April, the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) has been granting Professor dr. Leonard van den Berg the Sheila Essey Award 2011. The award has been assigned for his excellent research on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), regarding environmental and genetic risk factors. Leonard van den Berg, neurologist at the University Medical Center Utrecht (UMCU), is also head of the ALS centrum Nederland (www.als-centrum.nl). He appreciates the award as a major aknowledgement of the Dutch ALS research programs.
